Roof Replacement in Artesia, Documented From Tear-Off to Ridge

When patches stop holding, we replace the roof from the deck up and photograph each stage: the old layers, the bare wood, the new flashing and the finished ridge. You start with a free inspection and a written estimate, and you finish with a full record of the work.

When a new roof makes more sense than another repair

A roof replacement means taking the old roofing down to the deck, fixing what is underneath and building a new system from the underlayment up. It is the right call when repairs keep coming back, the material has worn out across the whole roof, or the decking has started to soften. If one area is the real problem, we will say so and point you to roof repair instead.

Many older roofs around Artesia have had a second layer added at some point, and long dry summers bake shingles and the felt under tile until the first winter rain finds every weak spot. As the old layers come off, we show you the deck, the flashing and the past repairs in pictures, so your decision rests on what you can actually see.

Every job starts with a free inspection and a free written estimate, in English or Spanish.

What a full reroof includes

Tear-off to bare wood

We strip every layer, including any leftover from earlier reroofs, and haul it all off in our dumpster. We never lay new roofing over old.

Deck repairs you can check

Once the wood is bare, we inspect every sheet. Soft, cracked or delaminated boards get replaced, with before and after photos of each spot. Your invoice lists the same boards you see in the pictures.

Fresh underlayment and flashing

New underlayment covers the entire roof, along with new drip edge, valley metal and flashing at walls, chimneys and pipes. Most leaks start at flashing, so old, worn metal doesn't go back on.

Attic airflow check

We review your intake and exhaust vents and only recommend changes where the attic is holding in heat or moisture.

Roofing that suits your home

We put on asphalt shingle roofing and tile roofing, and low-slope areas get a real flat roofing system. We weigh the choices on your own roof rather than out of a catalog.

Permit, inspection and cleanup

We handle the permit, book the inspection and sweep the yard and driveway with magnets for loose nails before we go.

Clues that it's time for a new roof

One repair after another
If each rainy season brings a new fix, with patches lined up next to older ones, the surrounding roofing is wearing out as well. A new roof ends paying again and again for the same trouble.
Curled or worn-smooth shingles
Shingles with cupped edges or missing granules stop shedding water properly. Grit piling up in the gutters is one of the first hints.
Failing felt beneath the tile
Clay and concrete tile frequently outlive the underlayment under it. Once that layer dries and tears, water slips past the tile even though the roof looks fine from the street.
A sagging roofline
Dips between rafters, or decking that flexes underfoot, usually point to wet or failing wood. Best to deal with it before the rainy season.
Water marks in the attic or ceilings
Light showing through the boards, dark rings on rafters or stains indoors mean water is already coming in. A roof leak repair can fix one spot, but stains in many places usually mean the whole roof is worn out.

How your roof replacement runs

  1. 1

    Free inspection, roof and attic

We go up on the roof and into the attic and photograph what matters. You see the images before we ever talk about price.

  2. 2

    Written estimate and options

Your free written estimate lists tear-off, a deck repair allowance, materials and the permit. If you have an insurance claim, we work directly with it and explain each step. Financing is available through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval.

  3. 3

    Prep and protection

On work day we cover plants, place the dumpster where it does the least harm and protect walls and windows below the eaves.

  4. 4

    Tear-off and rebuild

We strip the roof, record the bare deck, replace bad wood and install underlayment, flashing and the new roofing. Any section not finished by evening is dried in with underlayment before we leave for the day.

  5. 5

    Final inspection and your record

After the city inspection passes, we sweep for nails, walk the finished roof with you and hand over the full set of images from start to finish.

What decides the cost of your new roof

Your price is built from your roof's own measurements and condition, which is why we always inspect first. The written estimate splits the job into separate lines so you can see the cost of each part. Most price differences between homes come from a few factors.

Roof area and slope
A bigger roof needs more material and labor. Steep slopes call for added safety setup and slower work.
Old layers to remove
Every existing layer adds tear-off hours and disposal weight. Tile brings extra weight and handling of its own.
Condition of the deck
You can only see all the wood damage after the old roof comes off. We set a clear allowance in advance and photograph every board we replace.
Roofing material
Asphalt shingle, concrete tile and clay tile vary in price and in the structure they require. Moving to a heavier material can mean a structural review.
Permits and code requirements
Permit fees, code-required vent or flashing upgrades, and California energy rules requiring cool-rated roofing on certain reroofs are each listed on their own line.

Common questions about a new roof

Can the new roof go over the old one?
Code allows a second shingle layer in some cases, but we seldom advise it. Layering covers up the deck, adds weight and cuts the new roof's lifespan. A full tear-off lets us see, photograph and repair what's below.
How many days will my replacement take?
Shingles on an average single-story house usually take a few days, and tile or bigger roofs take more. Weather and inspection timing can stretch that. Your estimate includes a planned schedule, and we'll let you know right away if it shifts.
Should I stay home while you work?
Not the whole time. We'd like to review findings with you at the start and do a final walk-through when we finish. Please keep pets indoors and cars off the driveway. We send progress photos along the way, so you can keep up from work.
Will my homeowners policy pay for a new roof?
It depends on the cause of the damage and the terms of your policy. Ordinary aging usually isn't covered, but sudden wind damage or a fallen limb may be. We work directly with your insurance claim, provide our photos and measurements and explain each step, while the adjuster decides coverage. If weather caused the damage, our storm damage repair page explains the process.
Is financing available for a new roof?
Yes. We offer financing through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval, and can talk it over on the call along with your free written estimate.
