Artesia Hail Damage Repair, Every Hit Documented
Hail damage is hard to spot from the yard and easy to dispute down the road. We go up, mark each impact, show you photos of everything we found and fix only what the hail actually damaged. Before any work starts, you get a clear written estimate.
What Hail Does to a Roof, and When Repair Makes Sense
Hail does not always leave holes. On asphalt shingles it usually leaves bruises, soft spots where the granules are knocked loose and the mat underneath is cracked. On tile it chips edges or splits pieces outright. Either way, the roof may keep shedding water for a while, then start leaking a season or two later when the weakened spots give out.
Hail is not an everyday event in Southern California, so a roof can sit with hidden damage for months before anyone checks. That is why we record each hit with a chalk mark, a reference for scale and the date. You see the same thing we see, and you have a record if you decide to file a claim.
Scattered hits on a younger roof are usually a repair job. Widespread bruising across several slopes, or damage on an older roof that was already near the end of its life, can point toward roof replacement instead. We tell you which one we think fits and show you why.
What Our Hail Damage Repair Covers
- A slope-by-slope damage check
- We walk each slope and mark hits with chalk so they show up clearly in pictures. Every marked spot is counted, so the estimate matches what is on your roof.
- Soft metal and gutter review
- Vents, flashing, drip edge and gutters dent easily and show how hard the hail hit. We document those dents too, since they help confirm the storm caused the roof damage. Bent gutters and downspouts can be handled through our gutters service.
- Shingle and tile replacement
- Bruised shingles are lifted out and replaced with a close match, sealed and nailed to the manufacturer's pattern. Cracked tiles are swapped one by one, and we check the underlayment beneath before setting new pieces.
- Flat roof puncture repair
- Low-slope sections over patios or additions can take punctures or split seams. We patch or rebuild those areas so standing water has nowhere to get in.
- Before, during and after photos
- You get pictures of the damage as found, the work in progress and the finished repair. They are yours to keep.
Clues That Hail Hit Your Roof
Grit collecting in gutters
A fresh pile of dark, sandy grains at a downspout after a storm tells you shingles lost some of their coating. Those exposed patches wear out quickly in the sun.
Dented vents, gutters or AC
Hail that dents soft metal around the house has very likely struck the roof as well. These dents are usually the simplest sign to see from the ground.
Broken or chipped tiles
Snapped corners and fine cracks let water get to the underlayment. Watch for tile pieces in the gutters or on the ground.
A fresh ceiling stain
A water spot that appears weeks after hail may come from a cracked shingle. That's why a roof leak repair visit sometimes begins with a hail check.
Claims on your block
When neighbors are having their roofs checked for hail, it makes sense to get yours inspected while the storm date is still recent.
How a Hail Repair Job Goes
- 1
Free inspection with pictures
We check the entire roof plus the metal around it and photograph each hit we mark. No decisions get made up on the roof.
- 2
Review what we found
We go over the photos with you and hand you a free written estimate listing every repair, plus a straight answer on repairing versus replacing.
- 3
Support with your claim
If you decide to file, we work directly with your insurance claim and can join the adjuster on your roof to show the damage. Coverage is the adjuster's decision; our job is making sure the evidence is clear.
- 4
The repair
We cover landscaping and the driveway, replace the damaged materials and photograph every stage. A magnet sweep picks up nails and debris before we go.
- 5
A last walk-through
We share the finished photos and walk the yard with you, so you know just what we did.

What Sets the Price of a Hail Repair
Cost mostly comes down to the number of hits and your roofing material. We count and photograph the damage before pricing, so your estimate rests on real numbers, not guesswork. When your insurer is involved, that same written scope keeps everyone working from a single list.
- How widespread the hits are
- A few dozen bruised shingles on a single slope is a modest job. Damage across every slope costs more and can make a new roof the smarter buy.
- What your roof is made of
- Shingles swap out faster than tile, which must be lifted with care to avoid breaking the pieces around it. Flat sections call for their own repair methods.
- Matching the old roof
- Some older shingle colors and tile profiles are no longer made. Finding a close match, or reworking an area so it blends in, takes extra time.
- Hidden damage below
- When water has already gotten to the underlayment or decking, those need fixing as well. You'll see what we find before anything is added to the scope.
Common Questions About Hail Repair
Something not covered here? (562) 600-9619
The hailstones were small. Can they still hurt my roof?
They can. Even small hail may bruise aging shingles or crack brittle tile, particularly when wind drives it in sideways. Our free inspection gives you the answer, and if nothing is damaged, we'll say so.
Does insurance pay for hail damage?
Lots of homeowner policies include hail, but deductibles and terms differ, so the decision rests with your policy and adjuster. We document the damage, share our photos and written scope, and can meet the adjuster at your home. We work directly with your insurance claim but are not your adjuster.
Is there a deadline to report hail damage?
Some policies have time limits, so it depends on yours. Getting the roof checked shortly after the storm means the date and damage are on record while they're easy to show. Ask your insurer about your exact deadline.
Will I need repairs or a whole new roof?
Most hail damage we handle can be repaired. When damage covers most of the roof, or the roof was already worn, replacing it may cost less in the long run. You'll see the photos and hear our reasoning, and the choice is yours.
What if insurance doesn't cover the full cost?
We offer financing through Service Finance Company, subject to credit approval, and can go over it with you when we review your estimate.
